TSG Big Swap Reveal

Quoting my post on the Thank You thread for March.

OKay so i needed to post this before bed, I went to go get the mail just a little while ago (i realize that is very late for such things but eh) So I go and there is a large and heavy package, SQUEE, i come on to the nets and start talking with the ladies that hang out at lingr as I’m opening and doing a little strip tease of pressies for them all. So I start with a wonderful card and darn it all no name, sneaky sneaky. So i start going through all the fun stuff top to bottom, Lovely lovely lovely yarn Fiddlesticks Knitting JaggerSpun Zephyr Wool-Silk that I just about had a mess over and have wanted for you know forever, oh and its in the colorway Cinnabar, yumm. There is a note in the card that says the yarn is for a pattern in a book, but we havent gotten to that. Next is a yummy looking raspberry drink mix with gummy worms on top, how did you know i love gummy worms. after that a nostepinne, I was just talking to kdyorkie about them and so Squee! Then I see this cute little blank book, which I love, and under that a patch with a dragon on it, and under that Chinese Dragons Tattoos, i’m really loving this lady now! So i keep digging and what do i find in a ziplock baggy but the cutest darn dragon I’ve ever seen in my favorite color no less. And if this isn’t enough I keep going to find that I am now the proud owner of the book Glam Knits , I open said book and go to the designated page (page 125) and what is there but a card with Bran-tastic ‘s name on it. There she is ladies and gentlemen the one and only greatest gift giver swap buddy in the whole darn world and the rest of you can just cry in your soup because my gal is the best!!!!!!!!!!!! And to not end there under this wonderful book that i may take to bed with me cause i’m so happy (and the yarn, did i say yumm) is a beautiful pattern called Pyewacket, which i’m so excited to knit now, i love socks, and there might be even more because I guess i’m supposed to email about some possible pdf cause I havent been absolutely friggin’ spoiled already. Now I know there is some jealousy but you will all have to get over it because like i said I got the best there was and no one can argue this point. I will post a picture tomorrow for you all to drool over, just becareful of your computers we dont want any accidents. Again thank you thank you thank you thank you Bran-tastic you sneaky little devil and onesweettart for choosing the little devil for me :D. SQUEE

PS to Bran-tastic I love olive green too, plus all of the other greens and their complimentary colors but olive green is a great one.

Merry Yule

Just taking a moment out of cleaning and cooking to say Hey! and Merry Yule.

We opened one gift each this morning, hubby wrapped mine on the outside, then wrapped again inside the gift and then there were individually wrapped gifts inside. I haven't opened those yet because we were only opening one gift and I had already done two.

C4 picked his sword and sheath made of wood, I got it at fair.
C3 picked her crossbow with dragons on it (its a rubberband style)
C2 picked her horse on a stick
C1 picked her horse on a stick, as well.
Hubby opened his drawing pad and new paintbrushes. I really hope he likes all his other gifts.

Well I have things to do and knitting to get done.


PS Hubby got food poisoning from dinner last night, and Ju and I now have small colds. Good times.

Day 22... Widows weekend...

So this is first official day of Widow's Weekend here in Wisconsin, where the hubby is gone hunting and I'm home alone. I took the kids today and we went to granny's house, which ironically is almost literally over the river and through the woods. We got there around 4p, before that I basically just worked my fingers to pain on the second fingerless mitt. When I got there it wasn't done but I just kept working on it until it was done. She loved them, I'll have pictures as soon as she makes me a disk. We'll be over there on Thursday so possibly Friday.

We went over and had teenie weenie chili and wine spritzer as a candle light dinner with my s-i-l Jane and my m-i-l, very nice. The chili was delicious, and so were the cookies for dessert, it was a great meal and I didn't have to cook it, which made it even better.

I'm exhausted now and ready for bed, but I'll probably wait until the kids fall back asleep, its always tough for the tweedles once they've woken up. I'll give them a little bit and then it will be time to put my foot down and make them go to sleep.

Well I'm out of words for tonight so, night all.

Day 21... It's a Friday...

Well it was a day, I didn't sleep well because I kept waking up in a panic thinking I was late getting up with the kids. I wasn't late getting them up but my brain was in quite the disagreement.

The day went as usual except that T had gotten up way earlier and so he was home early as well. We hung out for a bit and he let me take a little snooze, then he packed up and now is off hunting. I really hope he gets a few deer, we could use the meat.

I've got one fingerless mitten done, while I was weaving in some ends, I of course was stupid and started watching "House on Haunted Hill" not a good choice before bed. So now I'm starting with Season 1 of Buffy, tee hee, I love some of the phrases of how they talked in the beginning. "Do you have an elsewhere to be" HA.

Okay, I'm going to start the second mitt and watch this one episode and then bed.

Day 18... My hands hurt...

So I've been knitting almost constantly since 7pm, my hands hurt. I'm almost done with the hat and then I'm going to adjust the basic pattern for a pair of fingerless mittens. I plan to finish the last 9 rows tonight, damn it, :P.

Any who, Ju had school today, we were late, I need to get everything going sooner in the morning, I'm going to try 6.30a on Thursday and we'll see how that works. Thursday is going to be a long day. Anyways, back today, I was late getting Ju to school, ran some errands, late picking up Ju, and then a few more errands and home. I put the tweedles' hair into water fountain pigtails, very adorable and when I looked in the rear view all I could see was Ro's piggys over the back of the chair, too funny.

Well, I'm off to finish the hat and then bed. Night all.

Day 16... Another Long day...

T had a little butchering clean up to do left and he had to do some turkeys, we now have 2 turkeys for a whole $5, they're farm fed so definitely no butterball. But they will be good I think, I got one of those needles for injecting butter and flavors so we'll see how they turn out. One of them is a general meal the other is for Yule.

I also worked on the hat for not my husband and that really did my fingers in. I'm typing late again because I got into the pattern and couldn't really stop, almost 4 hours of knitting this evening.

T made dinner tonight, which was a nice change of pace. He made cow heart with gravy (I actually made the gravy) so it was kinda stroganoff-esque, with mashed potatoes and hand pealed carrots steamed. It was a good dinner.

Well I better be off to bed, I'll try to write earlier tomorrow, this right before bed at midnight thing really needs to stop.

Update...

So to let you know, we had the "plague" last week, which is why I didn't even try to post. I did feel better by Thursday but didn't feel like sitting anymore so I went to Knit Night and stayed away from mostly everyone by at least a foot.

On Sunday, I went out for a few hours because T was gone most of Saturday. I went to The Yarnery and bought a couple discount books, a notion card for my knit bag and some yarn (finally) for my S-i-l and Hubby's (hand knit) (belated) Christmas gifts. Now after I finish the current dice bag I'm making (I'm thinking of selling them), I'll knit those and have them to them hopefully soon, and don't worry I'm still working on the shawl (ravelry link) and will get around to posting pictures one of these days, I'm almost done with chart A, Yippie! It's only a small victory because I still have a lot to do and with the kids jumping all over me all the time it makes it difficult. Speaking of the shawl, I think I'll go work on it now and let the girls watch a movie at the same time, that should keep them entranced for a little bit. I'm thinking The Last Unicorn, it was on sale at Target and I couldn't miss getting it.

Also, one more thing, Nablopomo is doing it again and again, the person that runs this in November every year is now going to do a contest for every month and I signed up. So March will be a heavy post month, with lots of babbling and maybe some random lists, being that's the theme for March.

Ahhhh, there's how many days until Christmas....

Well here is my newly revised Holiday Knit List, oye. I've got lots to do and not enough time in the day. Knittin Brit in WI had asked how I was doing in the comments, so I thought I would just post it here for all of you.

Well better get back to that knitting and I have some pics to take for you all as well. Hope the mails here early today, I'm going nutty for my yarn, mittens are an addiction, don't say I didn't warn you.

No more every day, but I'll try to do better...

I'll have some finished project posts for you in the next couple of days. I started Se's mittens before the Debbie Stoller thing friday night and finished them this evening. I actually did the 2nd mitten in one day. Pretty awesome.

Well I didn't win in the contest for NaBloPoMo, but that's nothing new, I used all of that kind of luck up when I was a kid. It was still a great experience, and quite the challenge. I'm going to try to post more than I used to, but I'm not going to do that everyday thing, no way. I have way to much knitting to do.

Speaking of knitting to be done, I was going to do a toe up design for my m-i-l for the holidays but I changed my mind and I'm going to do a top down instead. I just don't have the time to commit to a new technique right now with all the holiday knits that need to be done.

Almost to the end of it all....

So I'm posting early so that I don't run into issues coming home from Knit Night. T's take the monkeys over to his parents so he can watch the Packer/Cowboy game and I can still do knit night. Ain't that sweet. I'm still unsure about tomorrow night. Can you believe that the holidays are upon us and well I know I'm not ready. I think the time between Thanksgiving and Yule/Christmas has gotten shorter. Seriously.

My yarn for mittens hasn't come yet, still waiting impatiently :P. But I did find my missing yarn for my mom's gifts. YIPPIE!!! It was in the one place I didn't think I would stick it, of course. Now all that stuff is back on the list, but I have something knit already for her for the holidays themselves so I'll be happy if I get stuff done before the season is over.

Post Turkey day report...

So Thanksgiving went relatively well, I ate until I was near to bursting, and it was totally unexpected. When I was eating I didn't feel like I was full and than all of a sudden it hit me, hard, I was beyond full. Argh! The kids ate a lot as well, Se loved pumpkin pie as well as the Tweedles. I don't know what pie Ju had but I believe pumpkin and I know she liked it.

I got some knitting done, I'm up to 2 whole repeats on the scarf, I did about a half a repeat last night and I got started on the strand work on the second mitten.

Well I'm off to make breakfast for the munchkins and get them ready to go "shopping", see you all tomorrow.

ETA @ 6:53pm: We went to Kohl's this morning, it was crazy busy, but my mom bought me 3 bras, so now I can have my boobs where they're supposed to be :P. Than lunch at Baker's Square and after that off to the Maplewood Mall. We saw Santa first and then did two rounds on the carousel, after all that we went to B&N and looked at books for a little bit. When all was said and done we went to dinner at my parent's house and now Ju is staying over night there and is going to help MamaTee (my mom) decorate the tree. Over all it was a good day, I missed going to some places I'd hoped to go too and I didn't get any knitting done, but I hope to do some in a little bit. Hope everyone's Black Friday went well. Froggin' it.... I'll show you...

Another on the wire post. Today was a long one but at the same time when I look back it actually flew by. Got up with the kids, did the whole routine, wound some yarn, payed some bills, received some yarn in the mail. Completely finished one mitten and played with the munchkins.

This afternoon Courtney and her daughter "Peanut" stopped by and played with Ju and Se, the tweedles were down for naps, their craziness was a bit on the mellow side today but still they are 2. Peanut and my monkeys had a great time running around and playing like crazy. I invited Courtney and Peanut to stay for dinner but the playing so hard finally one out and the lil' one was wearin' down, so they went home. It was great to see the kids play and to see Courtney out and about. We decided we should definately do it again sometime.

This evening after dinner and bedtime, I watched my shows and taped the ones required by hubby and knit. I worked on my socks, and frogged the second sock. The pattern got messed up somewhere and couldn't find the right place to start again. So I frogged the whole sock and will start it again after I get this one up to date. I have until Thursday to get caught up, than it's more mittens.

Speaking of mittens, a lady on Ravelry had a whole bunch of Wool-Ease on major discount, for sale from her stash and the colors would work great for the munchkins. So I'm buying it off of her, it's going to be a mitten chrismahanaquanzayuleica this year for the munchkins and if I have time little mini teddies to match. Cross your fingers for me.

So in ending I'm going to add some pics of my first ever stranded mitten. (Ju is my lovely model in the first pic :) )

PS I opened my Harmony tips and oh my goodness they are impeccably smooth, yum, I can't wait to try them out.

Mmmm Pie....

So not much in the land of knitting happened today, I made pies instead. Today was the pie party/m-i-l's 50th surprise birthday party, I made Mexican Chocolate Cream Pie, it was very good. Very cinnamon-y, but very good. I think my m-i-l's pie was the best, but that was really no surprises, my mom's was very good too, but wasn't officially a pie so I don't know if it would have qualified for the vote that we never actually took :D. I think I'm destined to be the one that makes the good but odd pies and I'm kind of okay with that.

The kids had a really good time and got to play and eat sugar to their hearts contents, fortunately they wanted veggies too. My m-i-l purchased a ball pit type bouncing thing that they all love.

I think that my m-i-l really liked the rolling pin we (I) got her, it was a hand turned french style rolling pin and it was really nice. I really hope she liked it as much as she said she did.

Well today was a very long day, so I'm thinking it's bed time, I did knit a few rows on my Calorimetry but not much. I just didn't have the time. It was really great to see so many friends and I finally got the measurements for my m-i-l feet so that I can make her a pair of socks for the holidays. I'm also making plans for an original fingerless mitts design, here's hoping it all works out :D.

I finished the fingerless mitts for my friend last night and woven in the ends today. I'll take pictures and post them soon. The yarn was a lot like a pencil roving, I could probably buy a ball and re-spin it. It actually split on me near the end, it pulled apart just like roving. You know now that I think about it, I may just do that.

The Winter 2007 Interweave Knits cam in the mail today, YIPPEE!!! Funny I also got my new check cards and checks, good day for the mail. Of course all this good mail karma means that my children are being exceptionally whiny, it's awesome.

So I'm think I really want to make the Celtic Tote, and I'm thinking maybe the yarn that is supposed to be used for it would be cool too. I don't think I've ever used the yarn suggested in a pattern before, so that would be really neat to do.

I finished the Tasseled Earflap Hat last night (sans tassel) for hubby, I decided to frog the whole thing and reknit and it looks a lot better. I'll take pictures tonight when he gets home, and now there is a request to make the Calorimetry for him (he uses it as a face guard) in the orange because he is feeling a bit on the colorful side with a green face mask, orange hat, and dark blue fingerless mitts. I guess it's just too much. We'll see.

These were a pain to knit and seemed to take a lot longer than they actually did to knit because of mistakes and nagging from the hubby.

It's Snowing.....

Well it isn't staying but we do have the first flurries of the year. I tried to take pictures but the snow doesn't want to be photographed. So I took this test instead :D...





No knitting questions but what do ya do. I got this from someone else's blog but I can't remember who's because I was just doing the click links thing.

I did get out yesterday after about one o'clock, but T kept calling me so I felt rushed for being out and enjoying myself. I went to the yarn shop Knit'n from the heart in Woodbury and helped a lady figure out how to do a k2, p2 rib, that was cool. Then I grabbed dinner and headed over to Rachel's to help her pick up boxes and go have a visit at Starbucks and knit. It was great to hang out with my friend again, I missed the time we used to hang out together. I'm really excited for her that she is going to be a homeowner soon and have such a great new place to live.

At the yarn shop I purchased some yarn and a magazine to knit T a hat that was on the cover. The yarn is Cascade yarns Lana Grande in a great burnt orange and the magazine is Knit Simple Fall 2007, it's a really cool pattern. Only problem is that his head is bigger than the pattern can handle so I had to figure out how to up it and then when he tried it on this morning it was a bit to shallow so I need to pull back my decreases and fix that, I may just frog the whole thing and start again my added on stitches suck, but I'm kind of mad at the hubby right now so I may say I don't care. Also just a note, 2 hour pattern took 4 without tassels and braids and crochet, and I need to find a crochet hook somewhere size K.

Well the natives are restless so I'm going to go get breakfast started and hope they chill.

Houston. . .

... We have a problem. Or is it I have a problem. Whichever.

I'm out of fleece to spin and don't have the funds at the moment for more. This sucks, I was just starting to really get a groove. Not the best groove, mind you, but one none the less of a beginner. Argh, I need a sheep and a drum carder now. :P or at the least more roving. Anyone want to go buy me fleece and bring it to me is more than welcome, I'll pay in something not sure what but something. You think T would let me get more if I offered sexual favors, me neither. Damn.
