Scissor Case

Inspired by The Gift of Stitching August 2008 Issue 31

Scrap quilting cotton
Stiff polyester felt sheet
Cotton thread
Crochet thread (size 10?)

I created a copy of the embroidery pattern on an excel spreadsheet and printed a few copies until I got the size I needed. Cut the cotton fabric at 1/2 inch seam allowance. Cut the felt at the exact size of the pattern. The original called for skirtex/buckrim but I didn't have any so I cut the cotton fabric and felt with same allowances as if it were the skirtex. I ironed the cotton down around the cotton pattern cutout, sides/ends first and then corners. Pin the cotton to the felt at the corners. Whipstitch around all the sides except the very bottom, leave the excess thread hanging but knotted. Whipstitch around the faux skirtex fully. Slide in the "skirtex" to the end slipstitch in either end and stitch up both sides together. Using a cording tool I made a cord with the crochet cotton. Using the snips/scissors measure best placement and stitch down the cord. Finished.
