And away we go....

Busy week past, lots of sewing, so much actually that I'm having joint issues and pains into my forearms and hands. I've been busy sewing hubby's armour last week, still not done but serviceable. Also working on my kids clothes, I unfortunately am still not done. I have some hand me down outfits that are uber cute and nice but they arent enough. I've sewn 2 dresses fully, one a bog dress, the other a simple tunic dress. Hopefully both will work, I never got to make underdresses but it will be okay for this weekend.

Hope you all have a Happy Memorial Day!

Day 9... Well it's Sunday...

Clothiers was great, I did not get to go any yarn shops, they were all closed. I learned a lot in all the classes, it makes me wish I had someone to give me more direction to do more period things. Someone I can ask questions and not feel like an idiot when I get a response. Now that doesn't mean that I don't ask stupid questions sometimes or even that I always get treated like an idiot, its just I would like someone I could ask and it wouldn't be and issue.

Okay enough of my introspective, So anyway I went to dinner with Ingus, Catchia, Ian (their little boy that is just a doll), Beth (Yeti), and Kat (Ingus's Student). We ate at Applebee's and dinner was pretty good, we played musical cars too. Catchia rode with me to Applebee's from the event and from dinner to her house. Then from their house, Ingus rode with me to G and Padriug's, then I brought Beth home.

I had a good time at G's and Padriug's house, its really nice and very spacious, especially for two people, they have their own spaces and can breathe. They really got a nice place. Padruig and I had a really nice chat and G should everyone a really "fantastic" picture of someone's idea of knitted garb, we'll just say it was very wrong and I'm totally not in the full know but I know better than that.

Well my monkeys are hungry so I'm going to make some yummys and I'll chat with you all later.

PS I am fine from my ER visit, I just have to avoid shrimp and for the first time I actually had to ask in a restaurant that they make sure that my chicken didn't touch where they grill the shrimp. ugh.

PPS I did get to knit during the classes, that was cool.

Day 8... Clothing for men...

Today is Clothiers, and I'm very excited to go, the only thing I'm not hot on is I'm worried my hives will come back and if I take Benadryl it will knock me on my ass. I don't think I'll have an issue but who knows what caused the reaction in the first place.

I'm going to bring my knitting, hopefully I'll get a little time to work on T's hat. I'm also thinking of stopping at local yarn store, if they're open that is, to get some alpaca for my m-i-l for a hat. We'll see.

Well I'm going to go get ready to leave, those that will be their, see ya there, those that wont, take care. I'll write up how it went later.

Will you be My Valentine? :P

I'm still kind of in a funk, I think it's all the weather and lack of funds to do anything outside the house. We have our last shire meeting tonight, it's sad but hopefully we can get things going again after some time away to breath. We still have a yahoo group for if we ever want to get back together for anything. The webpage is officially down, but I have everything saved on the external HD so if we want to begin again we haven't lost everything.

I've got over 8000 stitches done on the shawl but that's barely 10% and that really sucks. So I'm off to go do some more knitting, I'm hoping to be done with chart A by tomorrow evening, we'll see what fate brings my way before then.

Oh yeah, and Happy Valentine's Day to all of you, I don't expect much on today because our anniversary for when we started dating is on the 18th and I always figured that was more important (12 years can you believe it, I can't) so Happy V day to all of you.

Here's a little romance music...

I love this song

I'm still Alive.....

So I'm still around, just been uber busy. After the all the holiday hub-bub, I'm still not done with all my holiday knitting. I got into the cold weather post holiday blues and haven't felt like doing much other than playing my new Nintendo DS and doing a little knitting. I had a birthday come and go, I'm now 27. On the weekends we've been RPGing which has been great fun, we plan to play again on Super Bowl Sunday, since the Packers won't be playing.

This weekend, Saturday, was awesome. I went to an SCA event by myself and had a great time. I bought a new simple tunic dress for $2.00 at a rumble sale and bought T a t-shirt for $10 (I think) and the best thing of all. I got a new card weaving inkle loom from a gentleman that makes them. When I was at the event, I finally after almost a year of carring my loom from gulf wars around, I got someone to show me how to use my loom and how to warp it. Of course, my loom is not as nice as I thought it was going to be, it's falling apart, **tear**, and the gentleman that makes them felt bad for me and gave a much finer piece of equipment. I also learned that the yarn I had purchased for a belt wasn't the best, when I got home it broke right next to the weaving and was unrepairable as far as I know. I may try that yarn again when I've got this whole thing figured out, but until them kitchen cotton and wool-ease should work well, I have tons of both. My next search is for some patterns I know how to read, I have the Card Weaving book by Interweave press but I'm not sure how it works with the loom I have, so I'm going to be asking about that soon, but for now an internet search should find me something simple enough. I very excited, I warped on my own yesterday morning some red and blue kitchen cotton and made a belt by last night. It's a little short for me and T but I'm sure a kid could use it or even a thin adult, but I'm really thinking it might make a great handle for a bag, since the ends aren't real pretty. I don't want to give it away because it's my first official card weaving finished project, so we'll see what happens, pictures soon I promise :D.

Well the tweedles are about to make a huge mess, so see you soon.

Update

So, it's been crazy busy around here and I've had no time to knit on the shawl or anything else.

Saturday: SCA event for the Shire, River Revel II. I was busy from the time I got up until the time I got home and went to bed. The event went well, we had more people than we thought we were going to get so that was cool. And we had a lot of people there that are at least some what known in this area if not the whole kingdom and they said that they would push for even more people to come next year. We're very close to two very large groups that could easily come and play but many choose not to, and that sucks for our shire. I'll find out Thursday how everything pays out and if we lost money on another event or if we actually broke even/gained. I will say I am very happy with the quality of people that came if it isn't going to be quantity.

Sunday: The Twin's Birthday Party, that morning we accidentally all slept in until 8:30a, so the day started off with a run, and I still wanted to sleep more. I did some quick grocery shopping, baked a cake, made a noodle salad, cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, T did the rest of the house, bless him. We had a decent turn out considering the late invites, I told everyone way early but didn't get invites out until the last minute. We had plenty of food, and just enough pineapple carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, pics to come. I finally got to start reading HP7 that evening after the monkeys were all in bed and everyone left, I read until 1am and decided I needed to sleep and then read all day Monday until just before T got home. He of course bought himself a copy just in time to read mine :D. We'll give one to my sis for her birthday and all will be alright with the bookcase :P.

Tonight, T is at fight practice and I think I may just go to bed, I should knit on the shawl but at this point I'm so far behind whats one more day.

Border Skirmish IV

The family went to Illinois this weekend for Border Skirmish, it was pretty good. We got to the hotel at around 12:30a and the girls didn't settle down and sleep until 3ish, so little sleep was had. T fought well, Northshield crushed the Middle Kingdom. I bought some color books to copy for the kids to have some period-esque coloring sheets. I also got some pretty cards for my card weaving loom for after I've learned and they then look more period than big white cardboard cards and I got a little satchel filled with Baking Soda, Borax and Cinnamon scent for T's armour bag. We went to court, it was good, the girls got restless so we left a little early. I spent a big chunk of the day with EKat, a very nice lady that I'm excited to see at WW, I got a lot of chatting in with people, that was nice. We left for home later than we would have liked and had dinner at Steak n' Shake, We were officially on the road by 8p and were home by 12:30a, unloaded the kids and went to bed. Sunday, we spent in Hudson and home, spending too much money at Target, Fleet Farm, County Market, and "Time to Sew". We're buying stuff to prepare for WW, I'm going to make the monkeys diaper covers for if it gets too hot and hubby and I are going to be making a quick shade fly.

Sorry no pics were taken on my end, we were in a bad place to take pics of the fighting and I was so busy with the monkeys that I just never thought of it.

I'm sooo EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I received in the mail....
[dum dum daaaaaaa]

That is my letter saying I'm officially Sorcha Bhuidhe in the SCA, yippie. And that I got my blazon okayed too was awesome, there is some slight tweaking but with out that it looks like this,

I'll be posting the corrected soon, if I can figure out how it's wrong and how I should fix it.

So, it was an okay weekend,

T never told me about the bbq his sis and hubby were having so that was cranky making, but other wise the weekend was relatively good. I got 4 skeins of some Norwegian wool (at least I think that's what the sign said there's no band) it's supposed to be great for felting, and for $3.50 each you really can beat it. A ball of Sockotta in a very strange color. A tea cozy pattern and the felted clogs, the copy didn't copy well. I also got a free pattern for a rug. I then went to Ikea and spent way too much on little crap that wasn't necessarily needed but would be useful. I did all this with my sister and than my sister, my mom, my sis's future m-i-l and s-i-l all met up at the Mall of America and we did a little shopping on the first level, ate dinner at the Rainforest Cafe and my mom got me a new pair of cross trainers for working out. We then had to haul ass cause my sister had another engagement and was going to be late. So my mom rode home with me so I could get gas and not worry about the monkeys. T got home late (2 am) and chattered my ear off trying to tell me all that happened with the sca fighting, I hadn't been able to sleep until he got home and then he wouldn't let me finally go to sleep, but I love him. On Sunday we went to Teri's for some hanging out and picking up of the Ju, we had some bbq chicken and potato salad, did some general just moving and picking up of things and played two hands of double cribbage (we're tied). Other than that, not much happened.

I'm going to a sheep sheering festival mothers day weekend Sunday and I'm way excited, there is to be tons of vendors and lots for kids to see. And T is going with me. Yea! :D

Sister Knitting, SCA, knitting

So I left early from SnB tonight because my lovely and talented sister came with me. She is learning how to KNIT. Yea! Next stop the land of purl. She ripped back her yarn 3 times on her own, remembered how to long tail cast on and start again, other than some minor yarn holding too tight tension problems, she ROCKS. She wanted something to do while in Alaska for 5 months by her self and decided this would be useful and fun. I'm going to miss her on her trip/internship but I think it will be a great growing experience.

Well not much knitting, my hands have been hurting and I've been a little too stressed and distracted, but I have some plans in my head as to what will be up next.

This last Saturday I was at an SCA event in Rochester, it was fun but a lot of court and I couldn't hear well over jabber jaws Se and how quite everyone spoke, ah well. Good times by all, (and yes I realize that coronation is supposed to be a lot of court, but it sucks when theres a lot and you cant here it.)

I also won to things at the silent auction they were having, a dress for $10.00 and a easily portable Chess table for T, mosaic style and very nice for $25.00. Good times, good times.

Well Night.

This is totally awesome . . .

Bayeux Tapestry

I was informed of this on the Northshield List for the SCA's kingdom of Northshield. It is really cool.

I am alive...

Sorry about the lack of quality posting, but busy, busy, busy. And not wanting to do all that is making me busy, procrastination, procrastination, procrastination. Hence being on right now, when I should be sewing. But I don't want to sew and I really dont even feel like knitting all that much, I'm just tired. So off to do what I dont want and T is just going to have to deal with the messiness of our kitchen.

More Snow...

Also I will be gone all next week so I'm going to be way behind on all my reading and mail. I'm going on a family vacation down to Mississippi for Gulf Wars an SCA event.

Babbling

Why is it that every SCA event that our family goes to is freezing cold??? Anywho, we got to the event around noon, the directions got us lost but we eventually found our way. I wish we had set up the kids in the common area instead of fighting so I could socialize more, lesson learned. For $1.00 I got a drop spindle, it looks like its only worth a buck but hopefully it will work. I knit for the two hours to the event only to find out that I didn't decrease fast enough and had to rip back on T's mitt. Fortunately there was a life line. Green Jenny had a beautiful dress that I covet to make, she said it was a pattern that is just passed around in Nordskogen or was that Northshield?!?! Anywho, if you know the pattern could you help me to attain a copy so I can make me some, they look comfy and versatile and breastfeeding friendly. I would even where the head piece if it didn't give me a headache. Sorry about the lack of pics, they're coming and also for the babble but that's what this is for right.

On other SCA news, we are going to Lupercalia on the 17th of this month and Gulf Wars in MS in March, anyone else out there going? I didn't know who to pre-reg under group wise so I just did Stromfels. Hopefully we can set up near some Northshielders.

Well C4 is crying for food, so I should go.
