Star Badge

Here is something I've finally finished. Bet you could never guess what this is knit from, well maybe some of you could, but I'm pretty sure most would be surprised. It's embroidery floss in a star washcloth pattern with size 1 needles. I tried to block it, that worked okay, it was my first time blocking. It was kind of neat to do this because I now know how to change colors, make stripes, and just in general add another ball of "yarn". I just went with when I ran out of floss but I got the idea. I still definitely need to work on my binding off, I'm a bit tight and I didn't have a size 2 or 3 needle so I could bind off a little looser, my next size is a 6 or a 7, that might be a bit too big :). Well, I thought some would find this kind of cool. I also have a picture of the badge here with a nickel to show size equivalence.

  1. I like it! You might be fine binding off with a 6. I usually knit socks on a US1 but cast on with a US3.

  5. It's cute! If you have a crochet hook handy, you can also bind off that way. I do that a lot for socks (the sc bind off, ala the Twisted Sisters sock workbook) or just the regular, crochet bind off.
