Merry Yule

Just taking a moment out of cleaning and cooking to say Hey! and Merry Yule.

We opened one gift each this morning, hubby wrapped mine on the outside, then wrapped again inside the gift and then there were individually wrapped gifts inside. I haven't opened those yet because we were only opening one gift and I had already done two.

C4 picked his sword and sheath made of wood, I got it at fair.
C3 picked her crossbow with dragons on it (its a rubberband style)
C2 picked her horse on a stick
C1 picked her horse on a stick, as well.
Hubby opened his drawing pad and new paintbrushes. I really hope he likes all his other gifts.

Well I have things to do and knitting to get done.

PS Hubby got food poisoning from dinner last night, and Ju and I now have small colds. Good times.

Day 27... Happy Turkey Day...

Happy Thanksgiving
to all that celebrate it, otherwise everyone else have a great Thursday.

We're dressing up in our nice clothes and going o go spend the day with family. I made a pumpkin pie and my s-i-l is making an apple and m-i-l is making a sour cream raisin deliciousness.

I hope I'll get to knit soon but probably not. The kids are watching Speed Racer the movie right now and its awesome they are dancing and chanting "Go Speed Racer" very cute. I love the colors in that movie very cool, I sometimes wish I lived in a colorful world like that. I also love Christina Ricci, she is such an excellent actor.

Well I need to get all the munchkins ready to go and I need to get dressed myself, I wish I had a cute long jean skirt to wear today but of course I don't. ah well I'll figure something out.

Ahhhh, there's how many days until Christmas....

Well here is my newly revised Holiday Knit List, oye. I've got lots to do and not enough time in the day. Knittin Brit in WI had asked how I was doing in the comments, so I thought I would just post it here for all of you.

Well better get back to that knitting and I have some pics to take for you all as well. Hope the mails here early today, I'm going nutty for my yarn, mittens are an addiction, don't say I didn't warn you.

No more every day, but I'll try to do better...

I'll have some finished project posts for you in the next couple of days. I started Se's mittens before the Debbie Stoller thing friday night and finished them this evening. I actually did the 2nd mitten in one day. Pretty awesome.

Well I didn't win in the contest for NaBloPoMo, but that's nothing new, I used all of that kind of luck up when I was a kid. It was still a great experience, and quite the challenge. I'm going to try to post more than I used to, but I'm not going to do that everyday thing, no way. I have way to much knitting to do.

Speaking of knitting to be done, I was going to do a toe up design for my m-i-l for the holidays but I changed my mind and I'm going to do a top down instead. I just don't have the time to commit to a new technique right now with all the holiday knits that need to be done.

Well I'm off to bed, see ya all real soon.

Post Turkey day report...

So Thanksgiving went relatively well, I ate until I was near to bursting, and it was totally unexpected. When I was eating I didn't feel like I was full and than all of a sudden it hit me, hard, I was beyond full. Argh! The kids ate a lot as well, Se loved pumpkin pie as well as the Tweedles. I don't know what pie Ju had but I believe pumpkin and I know she liked it.

I got some knitting done, I'm up to 2 whole repeats on the scarf, I did about a half a repeat last night and I got started on the strand work on the second mitten.

Well I'm off to make breakfast for the munchkins and get them ready to go "shopping", see you all tomorrow.

ETA @ 6:53pm: We went to Kohl's this morning, it was crazy busy, but my mom bought me 3 bras, so now I can have my boobs where they're supposed to be :P. Than lunch at Baker's Square and after that off to the Maplewood Mall. We saw Santa first and then did two rounds on the carousel, after all that we went to B&N and looked at books for a little bit. When all was said and done we went to dinner at my parent's house and now Ju is staying over night there and is going to help MamaTee (my mom) decorate the tree. Over all it was a good day, I missed going to some places I'd hoped to go too and I didn't get any knitting done, but I hope to do some in a little bit. Hope everyone's Black Friday went well. See you tomorrow.

    Turkey Day.... mmmm turkey...

So it's Turkey Day and I'm making sure to post so I don't fail the challenge. Good times. As you all can see I'm posting early, I wanted to post when I new I could, because who knows what the day will bring. The girls are all dressed pretty, and Se is handsome as ever, needs a haircut but that will be remedied soon.

Not much to say, I haven't been through the day yet, T and I are 1-1 in cribbage this morning, he missed being skunked by one point first game.

I'm hoping to get some decent knitting in today, either a big chunk of scarf or a mitten near completion would be nice, and both would be awesome, but I doubt both. I tend to end up running after the children a lot when I'm there and don't get to get much time to just sit. T's at home visiting with his parents and there is football today so you can imagine how much help happens. M-i-l will busy with cooking and that stuff and my sis-i-l has a little baby to take care of and a very rambunctious almost 3 year old.

Well I need to go find a sweater to wear and possibly change my shirt, we'll see what I find.

Everyone have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!! Enjoy your families.

    Much to do...

    Holiday Knitting To-Do List

    ---
Just a quick note, I'll post a bigger post later, just wanted all to see the fun that is the holidays. I doubt I'll get all these done, especially when some of the yarn has gone AWOL, oye. Here's hoping

    2007/11/07

    Free Rice....

For Each word you get right, they donate 10 grains of rice to those in need, to end world hunger.

It's kind of fun and you get to help someone out, how cool is that.

I finished the fingerless mitts for my friend last night and woven in the ends today. I'll take pictures and post them soon. The yarn was a lot like a pencil roving, I could probably buy a ball and re-spin it. It actually split on me near the end, it pulled apart just like roving. You know now that I think about it, I may just do that.

I'm now in the process of deciding what to go forward with next.

Most of this I would like to do before Xmas but I'm in serious doubt, for one I'm not working on the shawl until after the holidays. The socks for hubby are unlikely as well. Mom's scarf will be after I do the mitts and hat, for sure, and that leaves still a whole lot to do.

I guess that means I should get my butt (hands) knitting, and this will really be fun when I go to the dentist after Thanksgiving, yippie.

    Dios de los Muertos

So I'm going to attempt to do the National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) this month. I'm hoping to really do well, I saved some FOs to blog on days that feel like there will be nothing to blog.

Also today is Day of the Dead, so please stop and give a thought to all those that have passed on and hope they are in a better place, or at the very least no where at all (if you don't believe in that kind of thing). The dead live in our memory, so maybe share a tale of a beloved passed family member, it may just feel like they are with you again, even if it's just for the moment.

The monkeys went out last night, they did real well but it was pretty chilly. Se came home before the rest finished, he kept trying to abandon ship and T got frustrated. The kids hit a few more blocks/houses and than came home with their little hands and cheeks chilly. We had way less trick or treaters this year and of course over bought the candy, oye. Guess I'll have some sweets to eat.

Well not much else is happening here, it's Knit Night tonight and I'll be tired tomorrow but I'll be sure to post. Maybe this will become a habit and I'll actually keep it up.

AON: Fingerless Mitts for a friend and Scarves for the twins

    2007/05/14

    Happy Belated Mother's Day!!!

I had an interesting weekend, we went to the in-laws on Saturday so that hubby could help put up a patio "cover" it's very open and wood so not really a cover but I'll have to take a pic to show you. The monkeys were pretty good over there so of course on Sunday . . .
Hell broke loose and the monster ran amok. They were into everything and were just being their general brand of naughtiness, now don't get me wrong but when they are up by 8:30 and we couldn't get out of the house until noon. They were actually pretty good at the yarn and wool festival, but they tend to be pretty good when we're out. Ju got to pet some animals and we saw the end of a shearing.

Get this I didn't buy a single thing, I was stunned and I believe in some shock and now regret not buying anything. T said he would buy me a spinning wheel though if I do the research, eee.

Than off to dinner, I chose Acapulco's Mexican, it was good food, HORRIBLE service, T and I are sticklers about service and get very frustrated when things go awry. She was an absolute ding bat, grr. The twins ate pretty good and Se had some beans, and Ju of course didn't eat much, that girl.

Then we ran to the Source so the munchkins could take a bit of a nap, Ju was out, so I just ran in myself, I bought 4 dice for me, 2 for T, two Kabuki comics, and a Knights of the Dinner Table for T. We then stopped at Dunn Bros for some smoothies and Blockbuster for some movies (The Queen and Smokin' Aces). And then home.

The whole days driving was INSANE, we almost had a car accident at the very least 3 times that stand out dramatically, once was super super scary back end of car coming up way to fast, oye. When we arrived home safely, we messed with our again wild children to get to bed, did they fall asleep like good little children, nope, they stayed up until at least eleven being naughty in their room, argh.

So anywho, T wants a "Voyageur" hat like we saw at the festival and of course I'm told no problem finding a pattern, nope no luck so far, so if you know one, otherwise I'll be making something up. We're looking for pre 1600s style. While I researched that, we watched The Queen.

I was disappointed it should have been called Diana, because it was missing the whole part where it's really about you know the Queen. T and I both thought they would show her when she started her reign and the circumstances, how she was in the war, etc, etc. Than I had to wait up for my show to play again at eleven then bed by one for me, T 9.30, I should have followed him. I have a tension headache and need more sleep, but Se decided 7.20 was when we should wake up. So off to take care of the children.

    2006/12/26

    Well it's mostly over .....

The gift giving and receiving is mostly over, We have some Santa gifts to get at the in-laws on New Years Eve and a birthday to celebrate (although I don't expect anything for that, I've mostly gotten all my gifts already) but other than that, the chaos is done. The in-laws opening was chaos to its infinite end, paper everywhere and presents opened with no order at all, T and I were greatly bummed to miss the opening of some peoples gifts. We did it differently at the my 'rents, youngest to oldest, simple and orderly, the girls didn't mind nearly as much as I suspected they might because of the opening chaos the night before. Either way the girls made out like bandits and now its time for the new annual tradition of weeding out toys to give to goodwill.

On another note, the whole family now has a similar version of a pain in the ass cold, even the littlest is sneezing and coughing a bit. T is miserable and so am I, the girls are just whiny and tired from all the excitement. T and I spent most of our day today folding clothes and sorting out what we no longer need or want and putting gifts away. My 'rents got us a coffee pot with to thermos cups in it, well the water reservoir in the coffee maker has a hole in it so if you over fill it with water it leaks out all over the counter, we're going to return it for something without a hole. I also got the Corelle dishes I've been pineing over for quite a while and a gift card to go buy more if I would like. I also got the coolest cookie jar, I'll have to take a picture later, its actually a cookie 'jug' looking like an old jug, it is totally 70s but I love it, its an antique too, :D.

Well its about to be dinner time, I'll update some more later.
